GridPoint, Inc., a leading smart grid software company, announced that it will be a project participant in the largest deployment of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in the United States.
To support this project, GridPoint will provide Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (eTec), a subsidiary of ECOtality and one of the main pushers of the project, with its next-generation electric vehicle management software called Smart Charging 3.0.
The software will allow the utilities in Arizona, California, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington—the five strategic markets of the eTec electric vehicle project—to deploy load shifting, load shaping, renewables integration and demand response strategies. Advanced smart charging capabilities, such as synchronization with the availability of renewable energy, may also be explored.
The Smart Charging 3.0 software will also manage the flow of electricity to plug-in vehicles and charging stations, enabling consumers to balance real-time grid conditions.
GridPoint, is a pioneer in smart grid software. Its SmartGrid Platform enables utilities to optimize electrical grid management, increase grid reliability and encourage the adoption of renewable energy resources. The company is based in Arlington, Virginia.
