Vestas supplying 30 turbines for Ukrainian wind farm

Vestas will be shipping out 30 of its 3-megawatt turbines to a wind farm in Ukraine for customer DTEK Group, the country's largest private energy company.

The Botievo project in the coastal area of the Zaporozhye region in northern Ukraine, near the village Botievo, will have the size of 195 MW when completed in the fourth quarter.

DTEK, which has a portfolio of coal-based electricity generation and sales, added alternative energy to its sources, specifically wind power, to its core business in 2008.

The order for Vestas includes the supply, installation and commissioning of 30 V112-3.0 MW wind turbines and the company's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system which monitors and controls the wind power plant.

"Ukraine is a promising wind market with excellent wind resources," said Wolfgang J. Schmitz, president of Vestas Central Europe.
