Vestas supplies Poland, U.K. with turbines

Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has announced that they have secured orders this week for two projects in Poland and the United Kingdom. The orders come to a total of 78 megawatts worth of wind power capacity. In Poland, Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order from Polengeria S.A. for 24 V110-2.0 MW turbines for the Mycielin wind power project located in western part of the country. Siemens to deliver turbines for 200-MW Texan wind farm

Philippines’ new wind farms add 303 MW to country’s power supply

Two new wind farms in the Philippines have added 303 megawatts of clean energy to the country’s power supply. The wind farms, which are located in Ilocos Norte and Panay, buffer the country’s expected power shortage in the coming month of March. NJR Clean Energy Ventures has announced that their second onshore wind project has achieved commercial operations. NJRCEV, the unregulated distributed power subsidiary of New Jersey, announced on February 2 that the Carroll Area Wind Farm, located in Carroll County, Iowa, achieved commercial operations. General Electric will be supplying 55 wind turbines for a project in the Yunnan province of China. Vestas has received an order for 36 megawatts worth of turbines for a wind project in Jamaica which will be the country’s largest wind farm. Vestas received the firm and unconditional order for 36.3 MW or exactly 11 V112-3.3 MW turbines for the BMR Jamaica wind project in Saint Elizabeth, from U.S. based project developer BMR Energy. Jamaica to get 36.3 MW wind farm by 2016

A 36.3 megawatt wind farm in Jamaica has received $62.7 million in funding from the World Bank’s IFC and the governments of the United States and Canada. Hereford Wind Project in Texas begins commercial operations

The 200-megawatt Hereford Wind Project in Texas has achieved commercial operation. EDF Renewable Energy, which purchased shares of the project in 2013 (see related story),announced that the wind farm commenced operations in December 22, 2014. A.D.B. provides Thailand with $85 million to develop wind power plant

The Asian Development Bank will be providing a company in Thailand loans to develop a wind power plant in the country. The A.D.B. has signed an agreement to provide $55 million and an additional $30 million from the A.D.B.-administered Clean Technology Fund to Chaiyaphum Wind Farm Company Limited, a special purpose firm that is 90 percent owned by Electricity Generating Public Company and 10 percent by Pro Ventum. Siemens will be supplying 21 wind turbines for a 48 megawatt wind power project in Kansas. The turbines will be supplied to NJR Clean Energy Ventures, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, to be used at their Alexander wind project in Rush, Kansas.
