California-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. is developing a hydrogen-powered minibus with Indian car maker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Quantum, one of the makers of the Fisker Karma, will modify Mahindra's 2.5-liter engine to run on hydrogen and install enhanced electronic control software in the vehicle.
The resulting minibus will use Quantum's hydrogen storage and proprietary hydrogen fuel injection systems.
Performance and durability testing will take place at Quantum's testing facility in Lake Forest, California.
Mahindra & Mahindra is part of the $14.4 billion multinational conglomerate Mahindra Group.
Quantum's shares were up 9.42 percent on the Nasdaq as of January 13, at $0.87. – Katrice R. Jalbuena
