AusPen, whose products include sticky notes from recycled paper, "refillable" whiteboard erasers, and its flagship product – recyclable and refillable dry erase whiteboard markers - is drawing a big circle around the United States market.
In terms of non-conventional, "eco-friendly" stationeries, AusPen says they're only one of very few companies, specifically for whiteboard markers.
"Bigger companies have played around with the idea, though nothing really came out of it," said Mitchell Cameron, AusPen's marketing consultant. "But with whiteboard markers and general office stationery, there's almost nothing. And definitely nothing in schools," he told EcoSeed.
The company is focusing largely on educational institutions and nonprofit groups internationally. In an attempt to grab a larger share of the market, the company is in partnership talks with an undisclosed United States manufacturing company to produce and supply their merchandise in the U.S. market in the coming months.
"[The U.S.] is one of the most wasteful countries in the world in terms of sustainability, and even a small percentage [addressing this] would make a sizeable difference," Mr. Cameron said. "In New York alone there are 17,500 schools compared to Australia's 10,000." – EcoSeed Staff
