An expert from an Indian-based institute said that the demand for energy and environmental services is not only in big demand in India but in other Asian countries as well, citing the growth of the industrial sector which is adopting more and more “green” practices.

“Renewable energy and energy programs are promoted in countries like China, India, Sri Lanka and others,” says Girish Sethi, director for The Energy and Resources Institute based in India, in the recently concluded “Green Industry for a Low Carbon Future Conference” in Manila sponsored by UNIDO.

With the growth of industries, Sethi said the rise of waste produced increases along with population. Sethi suggested ways by which countries can promote energy service companies.

Some of these include a more enticing policy environment, enhancement of research and development, and strengthening local delivery systems to ensure the sustainability of solutions made.
