Business communications solutions provider StreamServe Inc. and business software company SAP AG have donated 20,000 euros ($30,000) for the Clean Water for Ethiopia project of the United Nations Children’s Fund.

The donation, announced during the closing ceremonies of the 7th International SAP Utilities Conference in Munich, Germany, will be used to dig additional wells, build latrines and educate the population in Ethiopia on proper hygiene.

Close to 80 percent of Ethiopia’s population does not have access to enough clean water to support basic living requirements.

Unicef is currently drilling 80 new wells that transport ground water from a depth of 40 to 50 meters. Through these efforts almost 40,000 people will be supplied with clean drinking water.

The donation is part of SAP’s global corporate responsibility program and an expansion of StreamServe’s commitment to the environment.

StreamServe provides advanced software solutions for business communications to enable organizations to increase the value and profitability of their business relationships. It is based in Burlington, Massachusetts with 14 offices worldwide.

SAP is a business software development and consulting corporation with headquarters in Walldorf, Germany. It is the largest software enterprise in Europe and the fourth largest in the world.
