The Hertz Corporation and Marriott Hotels & Resorts are launching an electric-vehicle car sharing program at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront.

This is the first electric vehicle car rental program in downtown San Francisco.

"There is a strong appetite for electric vehicles in San Francisco and residents have proven to be early adopters of this new mobility solution," said Mark P. Frissora, Hertz chairman and chief executive.

The program will allow San Francisco residents and Marriott guests to drive a variety of electric vehicle models on an hourly or daily basis through the Hertz On Demand car sharing scheme.

Models available include the Nissan LEAF, EV Smart Car, and Chevy Volt.
