Toshiba acquires Consert Inc., expands smart energy offerings in North America

Japan’s Toshiba Corporation is increasing its foothold in the smart community business in North America with the acquisition of intelligent energy management company Consert Inc.

The operations of Consert Inc. will be integrated in Landis+Gyr, a Toshiba Group company and a global provider of integrated energy management products.

Consert, through its Virtual Peak PlantTM offering, delivers a fully-integrated, intelligent load management solution for utilities. V.P.P. provides improved forecasting and capacity management, real-time stage management information and remote service connections to improve customer service as well as end-consumer communications and energy efficiency.

“We are pleased to be integrating the business and employees of Consert into the Landis+Gyr America’s team, while their know-how and technology will be used throughout Toshiba—and in particular within the Smart Community Division,” commented Richard Mora, Landis+Gyr’s president and chief executive officer for the Americas region.

“Smart community is a fundamental solution that includes energy management on both the demand and supply sides, along with management of transportation, water and in the medical fields. Consert adds significantly to our smart community portfolio and advances our ability to propose industry-leading solutions in power supply and demand,” said Takeshi Yokota, Toshiba Corporation executive officer and corporate vice president.

Landis+Gyr provides energy management products tailored to an energy company’s needs. Its portfolio of products and services in the electricity metering industry are offered in 30 countries across five continents.

Landis+Gyr is an independent growth platform of the Toshiba Corporation and 40 percent owned by the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan. – EcoSeed Staff
