AEG Power Solutions has won a contract to provide inverters for a 30-megawatt solar power plant for M and B Switch gears Ltd. in Madhya Pradesh.
Through its subsidiary AEG PS (India), AEG Power Solutions will be providing high reliability inverters for the M and B Switchgears project within the first quarter of 2012.
“We are thrilled to have bagged this contract. We start the year with two major achievements: this 30MW contract and totaling orders over 100 MW within the last one year,” said Sridhar Murthy, Managing director of AEG Power Solutions in India.
M and B Switchgears Ltd., which has been in the business of transformer manufacturing in India over the last three decades, has branched out into solar power generation.
In October of last year, M and B Switchgear Ltd. signed an agreement with the government of Madhya Pradesh to set up 99.25 MW worth of solar power plants in various locations in the state.
The company is also the first solar power producer in India to be issued with solar renewal energy certificates.
Renewable Energy certificates or R.E.C.s are generation-based certificates awarded to renewable energy producers if they opt not to sell the electricity at a preferentially higher tariff. Project developers that earn R.E.C.s can trade them on power exchanges to obligated entities.
M and B Switch Gear earned 249 solar R.E.C.s in May of last year for a 2-MW project in the Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh in March 2012. – EcoSeed Staff
